Primary Purpose:
Provide security for the safety of students, faculty, staff, of the assigned site, and the security of all district and campus property.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Hold Law School Marshall Certification in the State of Texas
Valid driver’s license
Must possess a registered firearm
Special Knowledge/Skills:
General knowledge of directing traffic
Ability to follow instructions
Ability to deal with the public professionally
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to write reports
Must be able to meet the District’s insurance coverage requirements
Ability to work well with youth and adults
Experience:
Minimum of one year of experience in law enforcement.
Experience working with students or in a school setting is preferred.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Maintain professional behavior, appearance, and work ethic to represent the school district in a positive manner at all times.
- Promote and display positive behavior and professionalism towards all District staff, students, parents, visitors, outside agencies and contractors.
- Maintain the safety of students, staff, and visitors.
- Notify building administrators, police, and/or appropriate emergency personnel of any emergency, potential dangers, or unusual situations.
- Ensure that all staff, visitors and contractors wear and properly display identification badges when inside the facilities, assisting with directions as needed.
- Routinely patrol and monitor hallways, stairwells, entrances and all other areas within the interior and exterior of the assigned campuses and routes, walking or driving within district jurisdiction to ensure the safety and well-being of students, staff and the property.
- Preserve the peace, prevent unlawful acts, suppress disturbances, and provide service, aid, relief, and information to students, personnel, and visitors to maintain the safety of students, staff and visitors.
- Assist in the reduction of truancy.
- Respond to all calls from campuses concerning crisis situations, accidents, and reports of crime.
- Assist the transportation department with problem bus stops areas and/or chronic disruptions on school buses.
- Provide security and/or security screening, as needed, after hours for extra-curricular activities and events.
- Cooperate and work with other governmental entities and law enforcement agencies in sharing information and assistance, consistent with LEISD board policy and departments established Mutual Operations Agreements (MOA’s).
- Complete all necessary reports and meet deadlines.
- Testify in court as needed.
- Help provide traffic control at athletic events, school openings/closings, or at any other time as needed.
- Assist school staff, law enforcement, and emergency personnel in handling emergencies or disruptive situations, including the removal of disruptive person/personnel from the premises when necessary.
- Operate equipment, including firearms, according to established safety procedures and make sure that all equipment remains in good working condition.
- Keep the security director and principal apprised of all security issues on campus.
- Participate in training sessions and maintain current certifications and licensures.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Other duties as assigned.

Handgun, holster, magazine pouch, handcuffs, uniforms, cell phone, two-way radio, and OC spray.

Strenuous walking, standing and/or climbing; operation of a motor vehicle; directing traffic; control of sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others; rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; may be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions including violent and armed confrontation; work outdoors in varying climate conditions; periodically requires work outside of normal working hours, including weekends.
